In Hindi, Snehalaya means a 'Home With Love’
Opened in 2006, Snehalaya is an orphanage, with a school, physiotherapy unit, vocational training centre, play area and all round great place!

It was built on the outskirts of Gwalior, to attend to the needs of children and adults who were being uncared for and at risk of dying in government run orphanages such as Mercy Home.
In the words of GCH founder, Dr BK Sharma, ‘We took this big step forward for the sake of children at Mercy Home and those on the streets despite a shortage of funds. We made this decision relying on your generosity and future support as we have received thus far'.

It’s residents (there are currently 38 children living there) live in 5 small bungalows where they have
live-in carers.
The children attend school and vocational training. Those who need it are reviewed daily by a Physiotherapist, and a sensory room is available.
Snehalaya provides for many different people, from 4 year old girls with physical disabilities to 20 year old males with sight difficulties. Take a moment to meet some of them…

5 more bungalows should be finished by May 2008.
Other facilities at Snehalaya include a cow shed and small herd of cows, a flock of chickens and geese, and a vegetable garden.
